Facing the champion of District 8-3A didn't seem to bother Alvarado's boys basketball team Tuesday night as the Indians topped Burnet, 76-59, in Class 3A Region I bi-district playoff game at Waco Midway High School.

Alvarado (17-15), the third seed from District 7-3A, will take on Wichita Falls Hirschi Friday in an area-round playoff game at 7 p.m. at Bridgeport High School.

“This was one of the most complete games we've played all year,” Alvarado coach Michael Seibert said. “I felt we were aggressive and executed well on both ends. The kids responded well each time Burnet made a run at us and maintained composure and control.”

Xavier Adams, who has verbally committed to New Mexico, led the Indians with 29 points. Marcus McNeil added 16 points and Brandon Castillo finished with 12 points.

The Indians got off to a good start taking a 15-11 lead after one quarter of play. By halftime, Alvarado had expanded its lead to 31-21. The Indians and Bulldogs each scored 15 points in the third quarter as
Alvarado maintained its 10-point lead.

In the fourth quarter, Burnet sent the Indians to the free-throw line. Alvarado responded with 30 points to put the game away.
