The Alvarado Indians will play the Mexia Blackcats in the inaugural Dale Hansen Football Classic at the new state-of-the-art Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium in Waxahachie.
The game will be the second half of a doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 8. The classic will kickoff with a game between the Italy Gladiators and Malakoff Tigers Friday, Sept. 7, in the event that is a joint effort of the Waxahachie Independent School District, the city of Waxahachie and the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce.
The Thrall Tigers will meet the Florence Buffalos at 4 p.m. in the first game of the doubleheader, followed by the Indians, who reached the 2011 Division I Class 3A state championship game.
The 9,500-seat Lumpkins Stadium features excellent viewing capabilities from all locations, a champion style artificial playing surface, and a spacious, three level, 6,000 square foot press box.
