Johnson County Precinct Three Comissioner Jerry Stringer won his second term Tuesday with a 635-vote margin over Alvarado City Councilman Tom Moore.
Stringer received 1,435 votes and Moore 801. Constable Mike White also retained his office with 1,258 votes to challengers Robert Herod's 540 and Derek Hoelsher's 257 votes.
Since no Democrats filed for either Precinct 3 commissioner or constable, Tuesday's primary determined the winners.
“Four years ago the citizens of Precinct 3 trusted me enough to elect me as their commissioner,” Stringer said.
“I felt I kept my promises to them by working hard on our roads, keeping our taxes low, and being a watchdog to ensure efficient county government. This election means much more to me than the first one because it tells me that the people that I represent believe that I did a good job for them. I cannot thank them enough for the trust they are placing in me again and I will continue to earn it every day.”
“My hat goes off to my challenger. He ran a good campaign that was fair and honest and he has my highest level of respect for the integrity that he demonstrated. I wish him the best,” Stringer said.
In Precinct 1, incumbent Rick Bailey will face challenger Derek George in a runoff as newcomer Kenny Howell won the Precinct 2 spot to beat Kirk Carrell and Eddy Bransom to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of John Matthews.
