| Plant sale just in time for spring (Posted 3/9/2010 01:15 pm) The Johnson County Master Gardeners can help with spring planting. The group’s annual plant sale will be 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, April 17 at the Cleburne Senior Center. The theme of this year’s event is “Texas Tuff Plants.” The sale will feature a large selection of perennials, shrubs and annuals selected for their ability to withstand harsh and variable Texas weather. The plants highly adapted to local soil conditions. Johnson County Master Gardeners have been active in the Texas Earth-Kind Rose Research effort. The trial garden at McGregor Park allowed our community to take part in identifying roses that are beautiful without work and extra care most people associate with roses. Twenty-one different roses have been identified because of their success across the state of Texas. Many of these hard to find plants will be available at the sale, and there will be assistance in selecting the right ones for your garden. Another feature of the sale is that trained Master Gardeners will be available for advice. In addition, educational programs and talks are scheduled throughout the day.
