Despite falling twice in District 15-4A girls soccer play, Alvarado’s Lady Indians hold their playoff destiny in their hands.

With three matches remaining in 15-4A action, the Lady Indians could almost put themselves in the playoffs with a pair of wins.

“Right now, Cleburne needs to upset Joshua or Granbury to keep us out of the playoffs,” Alvarado coach Billy Grey said.

Alvarado (6-6-1, 3-5-1) played at Venus Tuesay in a match that ended after press time and hosts Hillsboro Friday. The Lady Indians finished district play hosting Crowley Tuesday.

The Lady Indians lost to Granbury 2-0 Feb 25 and fell to Cleburne 1-0 Friday night.

“We expected to do a little better, especially after beating Joshua,” Grey said. “We played really well and dominated the entire game against Cleburne. They scored and we didn’t.”

Alvarado missed a penalty kick, had a goal nullified by an offside call and hit the post multiple times, Grey added.
