Davis, Okla. -- George R. Bollin passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in Ardmore at the age of 74. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Central Church in Sulphur with Brother Thomas Thompson officiating. Burial followed at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the Alvarado-Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Lee, Cecil Sides, John Paul Davis, Wayne Elliott, Joe Garrison, Royce ale Jones and Bobby Lynch. Honorary pallbearers were Duke Davis, Doyle Marbut and Junior Mackey. George was born December 17, 1935 in Alvarado to the late William James and Mary Ellen (Ford) Bollin. After graduating from Alvarado High School, George attended SMU University where he majored in Agriculture. However, before completing his degree, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam era. After serving his country, George returned home and began a career in the oil field. He later became employed with Conoco Phillips and worked until his retirement in the late 1980’s . In his spare time, George enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching the Davis Wolves play football, visiting Treasure Valley Casino and being with his buddy, Wayne Elliott. He also cherished his time with Norma, whether it be going to sporting events to watch grandchildren or simply out to dinner. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Junior Bollin. George is survived by one daughter, Robin Sullivan and husband, James, of Davis; two grandchildren, Johnathan Davis and wife, Meghan, of Katie and Brook Lynch and husband, Bobby, of Davis; two great-grandchildren, Jaspur Davis and Ayden Lynch; two sisters, Addilyn Curry and Carolyn Sampson and husband, Sam; one brother, Billy Bollin; as well as his cherished companion of 23 years, Norma Deaton, and her family, including three sons, Wayne Deaton and wife, Betty, Ray Deaton and wife, Mary, and the late Curtis Deaton; one daughter, Donna Soriez and husband, Kevin; eight grandchildren, Cassandra, Michael, NaKisha, Kenneth, Steven, Ashley, Billy and Dechelle; 3 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Lynn and Lexy; along with several nieces and nephews.
