Boys Basketball: Indians fall back in playoff chase (Posted 2/4/2010 11:52 am)
With four games to play in District 12-3A boys basketball play, Alvarado’s hopes of making the playoffs center around the Indians winning their final four games and Kaufman falling along the way.

Tuesday night, the Indians (18-8, 3-5) hosted Venus in a game that ended after deadline. Kaufman faced Crandall also on Tuesday. A Kaufman loss would leave the door open for Alvarado.

“We need Crandall to beat Kaufman,” Alvarado coach Kevin Starnes said. “If that happens then we need to win out to have a chance to make the playoffs.”

Should Alvarado beat Ferris Friday, Kaufman on Tuesday and North Forney Feb. 16, the Indians could finish in a tie with Kaufman for the final playoff spot. Then the two teams would hold a one-game playoff for the final playoff berth.
